Home Addition & Renovation Wiring in Toronto

Adding a room, a second storey, or a garage? RK Power Electric works alongside your general contractor to deliver all the electrical rough-in and trim-out work for home additions across Toronto - on schedule, to code, and ready for inspection.

What to expect

Home addition electrical work typically happens in two phases: rough-in (running wire, installing boxes, and bringing service to the addition before drywall) and trim-out (installing devices, fixtures, and panels after drywall and painting). We coordinate both phases with your contractor's schedule.

We assess your existing panel to determine if it can support the additional load of your home addition. Many Toronto homes have 100-amp panels that are already at capacity - a panel upgrade before or during the addition is often necessary.

Addition wiring includes all circuits for the new space: lighting, outlets, any dedicated appliance circuits, GFCI where required, smoke and CO detectors, and any specialty systems (in-floor heating, home automation). We pull all permits and manage the ESA inspection process.

Common questions

When should the electrician start for a home addition?
Rough-in wiring happens after framing and before insulation and drywall. We coordinate with your general contractor to ensure we're on site at the right time.
Will I need a panel upgrade for my home addition?
Often yes - we assess your current panel capacity during the free estimate and advise accordingly. Most Toronto homes adding 500+ sq ft of living space benefit from a panel upgrade.
