Electrical Rewiring in Toronto & GTA

Old wiring is one of the most common and serious electrical hazards in Toronto's older homes. Knob-and-tube wiring from the early 1900s, rubber-insulated wiring from the 1950s, and problem aluminum wiring from the 1970s all present real fire risks. RK Power Electric safely rewires Toronto homes from top to bottom.

About This Service

Knob-and-tube wiring (K&T) was used in homes built before 1950. It has no ground wire, cannot support modern electrical loads, and its cloth insulation has dried and cracked over decades. Most insurance companies will not insure homes with active K&T wiring.

Our rewiring process is designed to minimize disruption to your home. We use modern techniques including fishing wire through walls and using existing pathways where possible. In most cases, only targeted areas of drywall need to be opened — not entire walls.

After rewiring, your home will have full grounding on all circuits, proper circuit protection, and the capacity for modern electrical loads. We finish every rewiring job with an ESA inspection certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does electrical rewiring cost in Toronto?
Full house rewiring in Toronto ranges from $8,000–$25,000 depending on the home's size, number of circuits, and accessibility. We provide detailed free estimates.
How disruptive is a home rewiring?
We minimize disruption using modern wiring techniques. Some drywall work is typically needed, but we work strategically to reduce patching to key areas rather than opening every wall.
Do I have to move out during rewiring?
For full rewires, we recommend vacating for 2–5 days. For partial rewires, most homeowners can stay. We'll advise on your specific project.
