Bathroom Electrical Work in Toronto

Bathrooms require careful electrical work - water and electricity are a dangerous combination. RK Power Electric installs and upgrades bathroom electrical safely, to Ontario code, in Toronto homes and renovation projects.

What to expect

Bathroom electrical work includes: GFCI outlet installation (required within 3 feet of any water source), exhaust fan installation and wiring, vanity lighting, pot lights (airtight, moisture-rated fixtures), heated floor thermostats, in-floor heating circuits, and dedicated circuits for whirlpool tubs.

All bathroom outlets must be GFCI-protected - this is Ontario code, not optional. We also ensure proper ventilation by wiring exhaust fans on separate switches (or timers) and confirm they vent to the exterior rather than the attic, which is a common code violation.

For spa-style bathrooms with heated floors, towel warmers, or steam showers, we install the dedicated circuits and thermostats these systems require. All work is ESA-permitted and inspected.

Common questions

Does a bathroom need a dedicated circuit?
The exhaust fan and any whirlpool or heated floor system need dedicated circuits. Outlets can share the general bathroom circuit, but all must be GFCI-protected.
Can I add a GFCI outlet myself in Toronto?
Homeowners can do minor electrical work in their own home in Ontario, but GFCI installation requires proper testing and ESA notification for permitted work. We recommend having a licensed electrician do it to ensure code compliance.
